My relationship with makeup is an interesting one. While I own enough of it to fill an entire makeup artist's kit, I am actually quite a minimalist when it comes to actually wearing it. On any given day, if I'm wearing makeup at all, it consists of a sheer base, concealer, mascara and a tinted lip balm. Exciting stuff for a makeup blog, I know! All of that being said I am still very much a makeup addict, and when I find a brand that exemplifies the simplicity I love it brings me a somewhat embarrassing amount of excitement. Such is the case with Beautycounter, a non-toxic skincare and makeup brand that takes care in creating simple makeup with clean ingredients. I've been trying out a few pieces from this gorgeous brand, which you can read my thoughts about below!

Dew Skin

No matter if I'm having a good skin day or a horrendous skin day, for some reason I just always gravitate towards a lighter base. Call me crazy, because I know it defeats the purpose, but I just prefer makeup that feels like I'm, well, not wearing any. That being said, when I find a light base that covers without feeling like I'm wearing a thing, I consider it a real winner. Such is the case with Beautycounter's Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer*, a light base that provides coverage as well as non-nano zinc oxide for SPF 20 coverage. I've been testing out both shades No. 2 and 3, the latter of which is pictured above. While shade No. 2 will probably be perfect for fall and winter, No. 3 has done the trick for my summer skin. Currently, this TM comes in five different shades, a limited selection, but with such sheer coverage you can probably get away fine with a shade that is a little light or a little dark. While I have a rotation of a few different bases (which also includes the likes of Gressa Skin and 14E Cosmetics), this has earned a solid placement within that due to its light feel, natural looking coverage, and convenient SPF 20-infusion. After a solid two months of use, it has never broken me out and has actually left my skin feeling more hydrated than usual. All in all, I've got nothing but good things to say about this dreamy product!

Touchup Skin Concealer

Before switching to non-toxic makeup, I was very much on the bandwagon for the cult favorite Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat. That golden click pen was ace when it came to covering up and brightening dark circles, and I honestly wasn't sure I'd ever find a green option that would compare. Enter the very similar looking Touchup Skin Concealer in Light*, another brightening liquid concealer that's also housed in a golden click pen. So, how does this cleaner option measure up? Believe it or not, I'd be willing to say that it is better. While it still has the same hydrating-type of formula that brightens without settling into fine lines, it actually provides far more coverage than Touche Eclat ever did for me. I've been applying it by putting a click or two on the back of my hand, slowly patting a bit underneath each eye until I've got the amount of coverage I want. It instantly brightens up my dark circles, all without making the thin skin look crepe-y or emphasizing any dryness.

Lip Sheer

A moisturizing balm for my eternally dry lips that gives a decent amount of color pay off? While it sounds too good to be true, I found just that with the brand's Lip Sheer*, which are pictured above in Petal, Nude, and Rose. While I've loved everything I've tried from the brand, my adoration for this particular product goes above any beyond anything else. As a tinted balm addict I've tried my fair share of moisturizing lip products, and so far nothing has compared to these. Seriously. From the chic, gold packaging to the uber-hydrating color, everything about these is perfection. While I've been rotating all three shades, my favorite by far is Rose, which is an aptly named rosy pink. It's the perfect everyday shade that lasts for a decent amount of time (by tinted balm standards), allowing me to blindly swipe it on and head out the door. I could go on and on, but let's just end my love note here by saying these gems will be a constant staple in my beauty routine from now on.

Have you tried anything from Beautycounter before? I'd love to hear your favorites!
