O'Douds

In the blogging world, it's easy to feel like you hear about the same brands over and over again. This is just one (of many) reasons that I so adore the green beauty market - there are so many creative makers out there that are coming up with new, pure ideas each and every day, and I love getting to know more about the stories behind each of them. One such brand is O'Douds, a handmade apothecary based out of Brooklyn, NY that creates everything from candles to body care.

I've bene trying out a fair array from their line for the past several weeks, and every bit of it just fills me with such joy. Let's start with the candles, which are made with 100% soy wax and essential oils. I've been burning Forest* and Lavender* quite frequently, two very different scents that are still similar in their strong aroma and throw, as well as their clean burn. Forest is a mixture of cedar, sage and cypress, a combination that freshens up every room (and one that I'm really loving for this time of year). It's a candle that even the guy in my life likes, a very hard task to accomplish.

Speaking of my boyfriend, I'm actually very much looking forward to giving him the brand's Solid Cologne* in Heritage, a solid fragrance with notes of neroli, bergamot and sandalwood. I personally love the masculinity of this scent, and I'm crossing my fingers he does too because it really is just a super sexy cologne. As a minimalist (as in I think he still uses Proactive, at most - how are we together?) he rarely wears a fragrance, but I think having it as a solid cologne versus a spray will make it a lot easier to wear on the go.

Finally, there's the brand's Shampoo*, a treat I have very much been enjoying for myself. Let's start with the scent of the hair cleanser, referred to as Forest Citrus. The blend of bergamot, cedar and sage is definitely on the more masculine side, but it never feels so masculine that I feel strange smelling like it. If you're more into floral scents, this probably won't be for you, but I personally enjoy how fresh it smells. Even if that weren't the case, though, I would still love this shampoo because it works so darn well. The brand states outright that this is not supposed to be a de-greasing shampoo, but instead a gentle cleanser that won't strip your hair of its natural oils. As someone with a more oily mane, I was afraid it wouldn't be cleansing enough, but that is not the case. Instead this is my shampoo and conditioner in one, and it always leaves my hair looking (and feeling) fantastic.

Have you guys tried anything from O'Douds? There are so many awesome green brands in Brooklyn, I love it!
