Sample Saturday: Haut Cosmetics

For the second part of my "sample Saturday" I wanted to share a bit about a wonderful makeup brand that I've been trying out a few pieces from these past few weeks. The brand is Haut Cosmetics and the samples were generously provided by the lovely Amy of Conscious Makeup Boutique. Amy kindly sent over a few bits from the brand and I have been truly impressed with how effectively they perform, as well as their seriously remarkable ingredient listings.

First up is the BB Cream* in Almond, a medium coverage base that is hydrating, natural looking and overall great for your skin. The formula contains ingredients such as Papaya Extract, Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E so you know that it's good stuff - all of these ingredients combine to form a near perfect base formula that I cannot get enough of. This base has become a go-to for summer, as it provides enough coverage to cover up any redness but never feels too heavy on my face. I sheer it out by blending it in with my Hourglass No. 7 brush, and I'm good to go for the day! It looks completely natural and leaves my skin looking like my own but slightly brighter and more even. Couldn't ask for more than that!

The Bio-Cocoa Balmis a beautiful lip and cheek tint that is made up of ingredients like Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil. It's super hydrating without being overtly sticky or shiny, but instead gives you a beautiful wash of color that can be worn both sheer or layered up for a powerhouse look. I've been trying out two shades for this guy, the first of which is Respect which I would describe as an orange-y coral that will give your lips a lovely peach glow. Love, on the other hand, is an amazing deep, rich fuchsia that I cannot get enough of. Definitely my color of the summer. What I love so much about this particular formula is that, unlike most cheek and lip tints, this one actually works equally well for both uses. It blends easily but never is too heavy, a problem I've come across many times before in similar products.

Another sample from the brand has been their Aloe Cream Tint* in the shade Vintage, a cream which can be used as both shadow for your eyes as well as blush for your cheeks. Not only do these provide superior coverage but also highly pigmented color that can be used for both your eyes and cheeks. The formula contains ingredients such as Jojoba Oil and Rosehip Oil, so it's nourishing on top of being fantastic makeup. The shade I've been trailing out is Vintage, a deep gray brown that can be used to give you a gorgeous but simple smokey eye.

I also have been testing the Bio-Mineral Foundation* in Almond, a beautiful powder foundation that contains superfood ingredients such as Sea Buckthorn, Canadian Glacial Clay, Arrowroot and Bentonite Clay. Not only does it provide beautiful, natural looking coverage but every ingredient works double time to improve your skin for the better as you wear it throughout the day. I'm usually not a huge fan of powder foundations but was pretty impressed with this one. It's incredibly natural looking but never appears drying nor clings to any dry patches. In fact it's been a welcome addition to my summer routine, when I'm in desperate need of a powder for sweaty, hot days.

Finally there's the Shea Brightener* in Pink, an amazing counteracter for dark circles, with a hydrating and skin-loving formula that works perfectly alone or underneath concealer. Right now my dark circles aren't so bad, and I've been loving using just a bit of this underneath my eyes as a subtle brightener that cuts away at any darkness.

I've been really enjoying testing out bobs and bits from the line as a whole, and definitely have a few items on my list for a full-size purchase. The BB Cream and Aloe Cream Tint in particular have been truly impressive products and I'm dying to get my hands on the full size as I begin to run out of the samples!
