Board and Batten: Farm to Skin

Today I want to talk a little bit about an amazing brand that really takes their ingredients seriously - so seriously, in fact, that they grow many of them themselves on their own farm. The brand is called Board and Batten: Farm to Skin and for me their products were all love at first sight. I was lucky enough to get to try a few products from the line and am so excited to share my thoughts on each of them

First up is their Eye Revive with Olive Squalane* which works to diminish darkness and reduce puffiness with ingredients such as Olive Squalane, Calendula, Sunflower Seed Oil and Eyebright Extract. The formula is not only nourishing and soothing for around your eyes but really works overtime to provide you with some truly beneficial effects and ingredients. I've been using this at night in combination with their Hydrate Like a Girl Face Balm*. The face balm is a vitamin enriched daily hydrator that works hard to nourish your skin and helps retain moisture throughout the day and night. This gem contains ingredients such as Jojoba, Argan and Carrot Seed Oils (just to name a few) this formula is not only super hydrating but incredibly beneficial for your skin. Using both these products together has left me with substantially softer and more hydrated skin. I've mentioned in the past that I have problems with dry patches and I found that the formulas for both of these worked incredibly well to moisturize and soften my skin without me having to worry about clogged pores or breakouts.

The last two I tried from the brand are also two of the best smelling beauty products I've ever come across. First up is their Take Me to the Beach Styling and Conditioning Hair Mist*, a spray that is meant to be applied to damp hair to achieve a naturally tousled, texturized look. The amazing scent of this guy comes from the Lavender found in the formula, just one of the many ingredients that help give your hair a bit of nourishment and volume. I always find that texturizing sprays leave my hair crunchy and almost a bit too gritty, but this is one of the few hair products that is both effective in giving me a bit of a tousled look but without any added dryness or crunchiness. It leaves my hair smelling amazing and giving me that textured look I strive for. I've been alternating between this and my beloved Captain Blankenship Mermaid Salt Spray daily and couldn't be happier with the results.

Lastly there is the Sweet Mud Affair* which is quite possibly my favorite of the bunch. This dreamy product is actually a cleanser/mask multi-tasker that works for both your face and hair. With ingredients like honey (which is grown on the brand's Florida farm), Vanilla Extract and Sandalwood this mask is both effective and smells totally delicious. While I haven't had the chance to try it out on my hair, the effects it's had on my face have left me confident it would work just as wonderfully. When I use this as a cleanser I like to apply it in circular motions on slightly damp skin, removing any and all dirt or whathaveyou that might be on my skin. It's incredibly cleansing and leaves your face squeaky clean without that tight, dry feeling. Instead your skin feels hydrated and nourished, leaving you with a much brighter complexion. Using this as a mask is almost like giving your face a little spa treatment at home - the scent is incredibly relaxing and wonderful, and the ingredients all get to work at brightening and hydrating your skin. I love applying this on a Sunday afternoon and sitting back with a cup of coffee and a book while it works its magic.

As you can probably tell I've been blown away by the results of these products. I absolutely love the message behind the brand and knowing that some of the ingredients were even homegrown. I'm so excited to try more from them, and you can bet you'll be hearing about the results when I do!

  1. Board and Battern is definitely on my radar. I love the sound of the Hydrate Like a Girl Face Balm and the Sweet Mud Affair cleanser + mask.
