Illuminate Me

I've mentioned in the past that for the longest time, I had a lot of trouble finding a highlighter that could fit my very picky needs. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing I love more than glowing skin - but, in my case, I had a long list of check points that a highlighter needed to fulfill in order to gain my approval. So with a long, very choose-y list, it might come as a bit of surprise to say that I have actually found three wonderful highlighters that I've been adoring recently. All of them are nearly imperceptible on the skin, leaving behind just the perfect amount of luminescence that I love.

First up is a bit of a cult favorite, the incredible Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. This palette originally came about as a limited edition product around, I believe, Christmas 2013? It proved to be so popular that Hourglass decided to keep it around as part of their permanent collection. The palette consists of three shades: Dim Light (a peach beige that blurs imperfections and highlights with a balance of warm and cool tones), Incandescent Light (a pearl powder that brightens the complexion) and Radiant Light (a golden beige that gives your complexion a warm, summer glow). For my purposes, I tend to go with Dim and Incandescent Light for a lovely, subtle highlight. I tend to stay far away from powders, but with these guys it's different - they are so finely milled that it's nearly impossible to tell you're even wearing a powder, no matter what lighting you might be in.

Next there's my much raved about RMS Living Luminizer. I'll try not to write another epic love note about this one, because I truly could go on and on about my adoration for it. An all-natural formula, this cream somehow manages to catch the light just right to give you the perfect, non-makeup-looking highlight. It's nearly impossible to tell you're wearing anything (a.k.a no noticeable shimmer or lines left behind) but instead melts right into the skin, leaving behind just the right amount of sheen.

Another all-natural formula that's been stealing my heart, though, is the wonderful Gressa Minimalist Illuminating Serum*. When I first started using this, I mainly used it to blend into my Gressa Serum Foundation*, creating a more dewy base. Recently though I've started blending just a drop onto each of my cheekbones and have been super impressed with the results. Like the RMS option, it totally melts into your skin, just leaving behind the most wonderful glow (a word I've probably used one billion times on this blog). It also lasts throughout the day, with some serious staying power that rivals even a powder option. It's definitely earned a place within my rotation, and is one that earns my seal of approval.

What are your guys' favorite highlighters? I'd love to hear any recommendations!
