Verso Super Eye Serum

As someone whose dealt with genetic dark circles their entire life, I'd kind of resigned myself to believing nothing could ever help (except surgery, which is not something I'd consider at age 23). I can keep the area under my eyes hydrated and cover it up with concealer, but at the end of the day I still have some seriously dark circles to contend with. I still stand by the theory that nothing is a "magic cure" for hereditary dark circles, but I think I've found the closest thing to it.

The Verso Super Eye Serum is nothing short of amazing. The product comes from Verso Skincare, a Swedish brand that specializes in making innovative skincare products using their very own Retinol 8 complex formula to combat signs of aging. For those of you that don't know (and I can honestly say that I didn't until I started using this guy) Retinol is a powerful anti-aging ingredient, an intense treatment of Vitamin A that helps to increase collagen production, something that helps fight signs of aging such as skin discoloration, wrinkles and sun damage. It's pretty powerful stuff and can often cause some skin irritation, so it's usually found in very small dosages within cosmetics.

What makes Verso so unique is that is uses its Retinol 8 complex, a Retinol that is eight times more potent (yet less irritating) than most forms of Retinol used in cosmetics. Basically, it's extremely powerful but can still be used by those of us with more sensitive skin.
Here's how Verso describes it:

"Firming and smoothing super eye serum with Retinol 8 complex. This is a light and refreshing serum designed for the sensitive eye area. It helps to increase the skin’s natural production of collagen, reversing the signs of aging. Formulated with specific
amino acids that will diminish the look of eye puffiness, dark circles and lines."

I originally read about the serum on She's In the Glow, one of my favorite blogs. Annie recommended it, saying it's the only thing that's ever made a true difference for her dark circles. After reading a few more reviews I decided to pick it up for myself and see whether it could live up to the high praise.

Now, I should start off by saying that I am fully aware no Retinol treatment is going to be an overnight miracle. It takes your skin a little bit of time to get used to the treatment, whether your skin is sensitive or not. While I don't find the serum irritating, the first few times I used it I did feel it stung just a tiny bit, and I also find it can be fairly drying if not used in conjunction with an eye cream.

Anyways, as for results, most companies claim that it could take anywhere from four to twelve weeks to really see any change. That being said, after one week of using this guy I am already seeing results. It's nothing dramatic - my dark circles haven't disappeared or anything. Even the fine lines under my eyes are still pretty much unchanged. But I have started noticing a slightly firmer, less sunken-looking under eye. I've also noticed that the outer half of my under eyes seems to be significantly lighter, almost as if it's plumped up, brand new skin (if that makes any sense). The darkness is still very much at large in the inner corners, but towards the edges there has been a definite change.

If I've already started seeing some improvement after one week, I cannot wait to see what's in store a few months down the line. I can guarantee there will be some future updates...
