DIY Tinted Moisturizer

With my seemingly never-ending dry skin, I've found myself in a bit of a conundrum. No matter what foundation or concealer I use (or how much moisturizer I layer underneath), my skin gets more and more dehydrated throughout the day, eating up the product and leaving me with my lovely red cheeks peeking through. The only way I've been able to rectify the problem thus far is by layering on more foundation throughout the day but, even when using the most natural looking foundation, I hate the feeling of having multiple layers on my face. I think it's just a personal thing, but it makes me feel more like I'm wearing a full on mask than a light cover up.

My first thought on a solution was to find myself a new tinted moisturizer. I have tons of tinted moisturizers already, but they're almost all suited for my summer skin which is several shades darker than my ghostly self at the moment. I realized, though, that buying a whole new base would just be pleasing the compulsive shopper in me and that the better solution was sitting right in front of me. Why buy a whole new tinted moisturizer when you can just make your own?

I've seen it done dozens of times on blogs, but for whatever reason I've never combined my face cream and foundation of choice to make my own personal tinted moisturizer. It seems silly, really, since I'm putting them both on my face anyways - why not just combine the two? My weapons of choice recently have been a combination of my REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream and the Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation. All it takes is a small blob of the cream, combined with a tiny amount of the foundation, and voilĂ ! My very own low coverage tinted moisturizer. The best part is that it really can work with anything. I've stuck to foundations with a very liquid-y consistency so far (such as the By Terry Densiliss Foundation and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua) but I know people who even combine their moisturizer with some tinted powder. The possibilities are endless!

I've been so happy with the natural looking results that I've started experimenting with combining my Ren Keep Young and Beautiful Eye Cream and my Cle de Peau Concealer for a moisturizing concealer option. While I need a few layers to cover up my dark circles, it does help make it look more natural!

So while it might not be an every day thing this winter, on my very low maintenance days, I know I can turn to this little experimental combo for a dewy face. Plus it cuts down the amount of foundation I use daily in half - score!
