A Night In Glow

I almost never go out. That's a pretty lame thing to admit, but I've always been more of a homebody, so for me a fun night consists of having some friends over for drinks and dinner (I know, I'm wild). Because I'm not much of a partier the idea of "party makeup" has never really applied so much to me. That being said, even for a night in with friends I like getting a little bit fancy, and recently I've been loving a bit of a glowing look for nighttime festivities. The look involves a lot of the usual suspects, but turned up just a notch.

I start off by prepping my skin with a radiant primer, such as my much loved By Terry Densiliss Primer or, if I need something a little longer lasting, I might opt for the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. For my base I've found myself going back and forth a lot between my beloved By Terry Densiliss Foundation and my newly discovered Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation. If I need something long lasting I'll opt for the Densiliss option, but if I'm looking for pure radiance and a natural glow I'm partial to use the Cle de Peau (gosh, I feel like I'm cheating).

For my cheeks I use my (endlessly name dropped) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette, because it's just the best. For a little more of a highlight I'll sweep a bit of my Bare Minerals Chandlelight Glow Illuminator over the cheekbones and underneath my brow bones. For the eyes, I've been loving the look of a gold eye recently, and have become minorly obsessed with the shade Half Baked from the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette. It's a stunning golden metallic that looks amazing on just about everybody. I've especially been loving pairing the golden eye with a pink-y, nude lip, which I achieve by using my Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Dim the Lights, layered underneath just a hint of By Terry's Baume de Rose.

For perfume I almost always use my Stella McCartney Stella Perfume for any nighttime activities (even if it is just a dinner party). There's just something about the scent that makes me feel sexy and sophisticated - that is up until I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and realize how girl next door/homely I actually am. So I just avoid mirrors when wearing this bad boy.

How do you guys change up your look for a night out?
