A Game Changing Brush

I've never been much of a brush fanatic. I'm much more likely to go out and blow a bunch of money on my millionth foundation or blush than I am to save up for a good all-around brush. For years now I've relied on my Real Techniques brushes, some oldies but goodies that have never done me wrong. Honestly I probably would have kept strumming along with those guys happily for years if it hadn't been for my By Terry Densiliss foundation.

My HG foundation was in need of a HG brush. I had been finding that the Densiliss formula became rather streaky using my lovely Techniques brushes, and while I loved the finish using my Beauty Blender the sponge just soaked up too much of the product for my liking. Finding myself in a bit of a conundrum, I asked for some advice from the wonderful associates at Space NK, and they led me straight to the Hourglass No. 7 Finishing Brush.

At $65, this Kabuki brush has a price that's a little hard to swallow (even for me, the world's biggest impulse spender). But believe me when I tell you this brush works miracles. I never thought I'd fall in love with a brush, but the finish this ultra-soft, dense brush gives to foundations can only be described as airbrushed. It blends in seconds and all without eating up any precious foundation, a problem I find all too frequently in brushes. It is, in a word, magical.

The bristles on the brush are Takelon, a high-grade synthetic fiber that is PETA-approved and perfect for sensitive, allergy-prone skin. Hourglass is also willing to back up the quality of their products, because all of their brushes have a seven-year guarantee to them! All in all, I couldn't be more in love. This guy has opened me up to the wonderful world of brushes, and left me wanting even more! I think I'm a brush person now?

  1. I really need to try some Hourglass products! This brush looks like it needs to be added to my collection :)

    Lovely post,

    1. I have been SO impressed with every single Hourglass product I've used! Their brushes are divine and, while expensive, apparently last for years. I'd definitely recommend :)
