Kat Burki

A few weeks ago I stopped into my local Space NK (a weekly outing) to do a little bit of shopping. While there, I happened to bump into the lovely Darac, the VP of Branding for the skincare line Kat Burki. After speaking with him for fifteen minutes (and being pampered with several bestsellers from the line) I was absolutely hooked. So when I was offered the chance to review some of the products from the line I absolutely jumped at the opportunity.

But let's back up a minute. Kat Burki is a brand that recently started being sold in Space NK (or in the US stores, at least), and since originally learning about it I've been seeing it pop up everywhere. Their Vitamin C was written about in the November issue of Vogue, named as a "current beauty obsession". The brand is noted for using raw, natural materials to create skincare that is truly good for you. Darac explained to me that the formulas are all empowered by Cold-Pressed/Cold-Poured Oils that allows the skincare products to maintain high antioxidant levels. Basically, by Cold-Pressing, the oils won't degrade so all of the skincare benefits are kept intact, keeping all those skincare benefits in the formula.

I was very kindly sent their Starter Kit*, featuring four bestselling products from the brand. While the four products can all be used separately, they work fantastically as a four step routine (specifically one I've been using at night). I start out with Kat Burki Hibiscus Antioxidant Face Mask*. I'll fully admit to being a bit of a face mask freak - I adore them. Darac really got me excited to use this one especially because he explained that it is both a hydrating and retexturizing mask, basically meaning that it will "detoxify" your face without drying it out in the least. The formula contains ingredients such as Glycolic Acid, Botanical Lactic Acid and Cold-Pressed Oils, meaning it will help both exfoliate and moisturize your skin. Upon first trying it out, the formula came out clear and dried down pretty quickly. I left it on for about fifteen minutes and was truly wowed by the results...My skin was brighter, my pores less visible and my dry patches were gone. I've been using it on a weekly basis (the small little container will probably last me several used) and will almost definitely be picking up a full-size when I'm done.

Next up I used the Kat Burki Ocean Mineral Face Wash*, a non-drying formula containing 92 different minerals. One ingredient that really stood out to me was Rose Hip Seed Oil, a frequently used skincare ingredient that my skin gets on very well with. All in all, this product wasn't a stand out to me, mostly because the other three blew me away so much and this one was just so-so. With such great, natural ingredients, I felt good using it, but I wouldn't say that I had noticeably drastic results from it or anything. That being said, face washes normally don't give dramatic results, so I can't judge this guy too harshly.

After the face wash, I applied the Kat Burki Rose Hip Revitalizing Serum*, a recent release from the brand. Like I said before, if you give me any product with Rose Hip as an ingredient I'm basically sold, but the formula of this was truly impressive. A clear gel, this serum immediately sank into my skin and helped absorb the moisturizer that followed. It helped to hydrate my skin while also leaving behind a healthy glow. It really did leave my skin feeling fantastic, and worked beautifully in combination with the final product, the  Kat Burki Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream*. This moisturizer is apparently one of the best sellers for the brand, and with good reason. I've used it as a night cream, day cream, and even for touch ups during the day. It's ultra-hydrating, but still a very light, creamy feel. It can be applied over, under, or in lieu of makeup - kind of a jack of all trades. It also boasts some pretty awesome skincare ingredients such as Vitamin C, Wild Reishi Mushroom and Green Tea, which work to stimulate collagen and tone your skin. Along with the Hibiscus Face Mask, this was the standout of the line for me, and another that I'll be shelling out the big bucks for a full size version.

All in all I was thoroughly impressed with this brand, and am ecstatic to have discovered it. I feel kind of conflicted posting such a rave review for products I was sent, but I'm being completely honest when I write that these products were just that good. As a fan of natural, organic, cruelty-free formulas, this brand ticks all the boxes and has certainly gained a big fan in me.
