A Base By Terry

As a makeup lover, I'm on a constant quest to find the perfect base makeup. On my journey for some holy grail products, I've spent a whole lot more money than I'm proud to admit, and have tried about everything from drugstore to the highest of high end. So it straight up pains me to say that, thus far, my absolute favorite combination of foundations and concealers comes from the most expensive brand in the history of the world. I'm talking, of course, about By Terry.

The brand was created by the infamous Terry de Gunzburg, creator of the cult status YSL Touche Eclat. The brand consists of both skincare and makeup products (though the makeup all carry skincare benefits) that will stun you with their beauty and then immediately make you cry at their price tags. No, but really. If you're looking to save money, do yourself a favor and never try out products from this line, because you will be tempted to buy. Believe me.

I started my love affair with By Terry after trying out the beauty blogging favorite, the By Terry Touche Veloutee (I have shade 2 Cream). Basically this bad boy is a bigger, better, more coverage-toting version of the Touche Eclat, and it has been a staple in my arsenal since first use. It manages to provide medium coverage concealing properties with a gorgeous (non-sparkly) highlight, and comes in a click-pen that has lasted me five months with daily use. My only regret with this product is that it was basically a gateway drug to trying out the whole line, which I immediately fell in love with.

The base products I'm wearing above are all By Terry. I started out with the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Primer, a product I tried a sample of and immediately was blown away by. This primer truly gives your skin a soft-focus, airbrushed effect that I've never seen from a primer. It's not shimmery, and provides no coverage of any sort, but somehow it manages to give my skin a true lit-from-within glow. Honestly, I could see myself wearing this alone during the warmer months with just a hint of powder and calling it a day - it's that good. Like all By Terry products, the price is eye-watering, but it honestly probably won't stop me from saving up to buy this (or ask as a Christmas present...pretty please, Santa?).

The next product I used was the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Serum Foundation (I have shade 5), a product I've been blathering on about for several posts now. Unfortunately, it's a product that's just too good not to rave about. I apply just a single pump of this all over my face, pat it down with a Beauty Blender, and I'm left with a luminous semi-matte finish that's perfect for the season. It manages to give very natural medium-coverage while still looking like your own (glowing) skin. It's fabulous, and I could honestly write a book about my love for this. At the price, I wish I hated it (oh, how I wish I did..) so I would never have to worry about at a rebuy, but it's just too fantastic not to. Luckily, the bottle will likely be lasting me quite some time.

Finally, I used a combination of By Terry products for concealing my dark circles. First up was the By Terry Densiliss Concealer (I have shade 1), an ultra-brightening serum concealer targeted to conceal and treat dark circles and wrinkles. The gorgeous, creamy formula manages to cover and brighten my severely dark circles while still looking natural and bright. It's not drying and doesn't sink into fine lines, leaving me looking a whole lot more rested than I probably am. For the finishing touch, I added just a dab of the Touche Veloutee just to brighten a smidge more. The two concealers work beautifully together, with the Densiliss adding more coverage and the Touche Veloutee adding even more brightening.

While the items featured in this post might cost you an arm and a leg, I'm ashamed to admit that I am thoroughly hooked. The brand just has holy grail products scattered all over the place, and it makes me sincerely frightened to try out more. My bank account is crying at the thought...

    1. Thank you! The brand makes some fantastic products, but they truly are mind numbingly expensive! I've heard that L'Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighter is a great dupe for the Touche Veloutee, and I've been meaning to check it out!

    1. They are all fantastic! By Terry products have been known to break the bank a bit, but I've always found they work so beautifully that I'm willing to spend the money on them. Plus, I usually buy them from www.beautybar.com which almost always has some sort of discount going on :) You'll have to let me know if you try anything!!
