I'm Gonna (Safely) Soak Up the Sun

I kind of hate myself already for that title, but I'm just gonna roll with it. So I'm one of those fair-skinned English/Scottish/Irish girls who really should always wear sunscreen, but I've always been very rebellious an idiot and have not. Because of this, I've now had numerous instances of severe sunburn as well as a particularly unfortunate case of sun poisoning after a long day in the sun on a family vacation to the Dominican Republic. Let's just say purple's not a great color on me.

While I've wised up over the years after seeing multiple family members and friends suffer from skin cancer, I'm still not great at wearing SPF every day. While I always slather it on at the beach, or in some instance where I'll be outside all day, it's the days where I believe I won't be getting any sun that trip me up. The thing is, I should be wearing sunscreen every day. Most of my makeup has it, so my face is often protected, but that still leaves the rest of my body. This sounds silly, but the thick texture and sunscreen scent often put me off from wanting to rub it on my body when I don't need to, so I often avoid it.

However, I have a feeling this will be changing soon. A few days ago, as I was browsing the aisles of Sephora (a daily occurrence), I came across a little number called Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen SPF 30. Toted as a lightweight and oil-free (as well as oxybenzone-free, cruelty-free, noncomedogenic, non-irritating and allergy-free) this sunscreen can be used for both your face and body. This all sounded amazing (even though at first I thought Supergoop was related to Gwenyth Paltrow's Goop and I was completely turned off - thankfully there's no relation) and exactly like something I needed in my life.

After a couple days of use, I can honestly say this is one product I will always want in my daily routine! This sunscreen is moisturizing enough that I can wear it alone on my face and body and feel comfortable, but it's also lightweight enough that I have no problem using this as my moisturizer and then adding a base of makeup for some extra SPF. It's one of those non-glitzy products that I'd usually have a hard time getting excited about buying, but the formula of this really had me excited, and honestly has given me an enjoyable way to always make sure I'm giving my skin a little added protection from the sun.
