A Big 'Ol Lush Haul

I might have gone a little crazy on my recent trip to Lush. I was given a gift card for my birthday by my boyfriend's lovely, thoughtful and kind family, and couldn't wait to use it on some new Lush goodies! I planned to limit myself to just a few things but, as you can see from the picture above, I failed epically. In my defense, everything from Lush is just so darn good that it's pretty hard to resist.

I always have the best experience in Lush stores, and the sales associates are always so wonderfully knowledgeable! Along with everything pictured above the sales staff were kind enough to give me about ten generously sized samples to try out. Some noticeable mentions among these samples were the African Paradise Body Conditioner (a lotion you use on wet skin, and then wash off in the shower for soft, hydrated skin) and the Vanilla Dee-lite Body Lotion (a gorgeously scented vanilla and kiwi body lotion that leaves your skin smelling sweet and feeling moisturized). They're two samples that after one use I can already tell will be coming home with me within a matter of weeks.

I really ended up buying an array of products for all different purposes. For makeup I bought the Eyes Right Mascara, a wheatgrass-based mascara that works to condition, lengthen and strengthen your eyelashes. I had quite a hard time finding a cruelty-free mascara for my Cruelty-Free Challenge and found that even when a mascara was CF there were quite a few questionable ingredients used. My search led me to reading reviews on this guy, and I'm so glad I did because it's a gem! The other makeup purchase I made was the Liquid Lipstick in Believe, a raspberry-pink matte "liquid lipstick" (obviously, as the name suggests) that is infused with jojoba oil and rose wax to hydrate your lips. It is insanely pigmented, possibly the most pigmented piece of makeup I have ever used. Because it's such a strong color, I've been enjoying using this with a bit of lip balm to make it a nice tint instead of a full-blown lipstick. It can also be used as a cheek tint, which I'm really excited to try out! I usually wouldn't use a lip color so pigmented, because so often I leave my lips a more muted color. However, you can play around with this and bring the intensity up or down which I really enjoyed. Plus, because it's so pigmented, a little goes a looong way meaning this guy will be lasting me quite some time.

I ended up buying one perfume, the Gorilla Solid Perfume in Vanillary, a lovely vanilla scent infused with notes of sandalwood (my all-time favorite scent) and burnt carmel. I liked the idea of a small solid perfume to travel with without having to worry about any liquid leaking in my makeup bag, and this seemed like the perfect fit. The smell is divine, and smells so fresh and vanilla-y (let's pretend that's a word). You can even see the little vanilla bean flecks in the formula, which I think is awesome!

For my hair I bought the Curly Wurly Coconut Shampoo, a coconut oil infused shampoo that is meant for curly hair. My hair happens to be pin straight, but since I have thick hair that is constantly in need of hydration this seemed like a good choice. Plus it smells amazing, so the scent might've really been the thing that pushed me over the edge. I've only used this once so far, but already am loving how soft and clean it leaves my hair. The smell might've been what drew me to this product, but the great results are what will keep me a fan.

My biggest purchases, though, were for facial skincare. My real intention for my trip to Lush was to purchase the Ocean Salt Scrub, a face and body scrub that I have read ton of rave reviews for and have wanted to pick up for quite some time. With a mixture of coconut, lime, vodka and avocado this is supposed to exfoliate, cleanse, brighten and moisturize your face and body. So far I've only tried it once on my face, but found that all of those claims were true. After using it my skin felt softer, and yet still felt incredibly hydrated for having just been exfoliated. I was told by the wonderful associates at the store that this scrub is best when used once or twice a week on the face and a few times a week for your body, and I plan on following those instructions and seeing how it turns out.

I was looking for a new facial moisturizer and ended up choosing the Celestial Facial Moisturizer because it was recommended for all skin types. In all honesty this moisturizer might prove to be too moisturizing for my summer skin, but I certainly plan on giving it a few days time to see how it fares. It definitely does soothe and hydrate my skin, and if it doesn't work well during these hot summer days I could see it being a wonderful addition to my nighttime skin routine.

I had read about the Tea Tree Water Toner over at gh0stparties, and decided on a whim to pick up the smaller size. I have not yet tried it out but have read that it's a wonderful toner for clearing up any red spots or blemishes, and I cannot wait to see if those claims are true!

Out of everything, I think one of my favorite buys has to be the Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser, which is an all-natural cleanser that manages to cleanse, exfoliate, soothe and calm your skin. A real wonder product! It smells of lavender, rose and almond and works perfectly on my skin. After only a few uses I can safely say this is one of the most amazing cleansers I've ever had the pleasure of using.

  1. I swear by the tea tree water but I find the ocean salt scrub a little too abrasive for my skin. Definitely need to get my hands on the curly wurly shampoo though! x

    1. The Tea Tree Water is really fantastic, I love that it leaves my skin feeling clean without drying it out. I could definitely see that with the Ocean Salt Scrub, my skin is pretty resilient but I feel anyone with sensitive skin might have more of a problem with it. And I'd DEFINITELY recommend trying out the Curly Wurly Shampoo! The scent is unbelievably amazing, and it leaves your hair feeling so soft.

    1. I do too! The closest one to me is probably 45 minutes from my house, but it's one of those stores I really prefer to go to rather than order online. So of course when I do end up going I buy the whole store! :)
