Weekly Favorites #1

I think I might've done a "favorites" post when I first started the blog, but I've kinda been so scattered since then that I haven't really continued any of the early series I attempted to start. My favorites seem to change so frequently that I figured I should start this series of posts to highlight some products that I'm loving from week to week. So without further ado, here are five products that I am currently obsessing over!

Anastasia Brow Wiz

I'm pretty sure I'm the last person on earth to start using this, and now that I've started I can honestly say I have no idea how I lived before this! My eyebrows have always been somewhat manageable (though that's kind of giving them too much credit), but due to some mishaps with waxing in my teen years they've always been shorter than I would prefer. I've always been hesitant about buying eyebrow pencils because I have seen some drawn on eyebrows that are simply frightening. However, after watching countless YouTube tutorials I decided to give this a go, and I am so glad that I did! The incredibly thin tip of the pencil helps create incredible natural, hairlike strokes that help eyebrows look more filled in and perfected, all while looking very real. On the other side of the pencil is a spooly (is that the right word, or am I the only one who calls it that?) which helps not only brush your brows into place but also works to correct any strokes that might have been drawn by mistake. This is a product that is still pretty new in my life, but I'm pretty sure I can already say it will be an everyday essential in my makeup routine.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

I recently wrote about this one in my Body Shop Haul and raved about its amazing ways. This stuff literally breaks down your makeup, leaving you with lovely soft, soothed skin. I wrote in my haul post that this product is a skincare game changer for me, and I truly meant it. After only a few nights of this stuff I can already say that I don't know how I lived without it. It not only soothes my skin, but also is so powerfully cleansing that it can remove my waterproof mascara! Truly a little miracle worker that I would recommend to any and everyone.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

I made the very bold claim in my original review of this that I had found my HG foundation, and I am happy to say that I am sticking to this statement. This stuff is incredible! I've always been a bit of a tinted moisturizer freak (I love natural, low-coverage offerings) so when I say I've been reaching for this guy during these hot days it's a pretty big deal. I start off by prepping my skin with my Clinique Moisture Surge, which is a wonderfully hydrating gel-finish moisturizer. This moisturizer and the Chanel Vitalumiere work hand in hand, and once applied the Vitalumiere dries down to a wonderful velvet-y type finish. While I've always been a dewy-loving girl, I can say that during the summer months when I'm constantly sweating, this velvet-like finish sits in the perfect place between dewy and matte. My one and only gripe with this product is that it clings to dry patches like crazy, which unfortunately means that my love affair with this will probably only take place during the humid summer to beginning of fall months. But other than that small bump in the road, I'm pretty sure my future with this guy is a bright one (I have to just stop for a second and acknowledge that I'm writing about a makeup product like it's my soulmate. And I'm okay with that. Sorry Jake).

By Terry Touche Veloutee

When I originally reviewed the Touche Veloutee I had been using shade 03 Beige, which worked wonderfully as a concealer but not so much as a highlighter. Skip forward to today, and I have since exchanged that for shade 02 Cream and am loving it! When first applied, Cream looks like it would be way too light for underneath my eyes. My ultimate fear with concealer is that I will have reverse raccoon eyes, which is definitely where I thought it was heading with this shade. However, the formula blends like a dream, and manages to brighten (and conceal, and not crease!) underneath the eyes by finishing to a soft, luminous finish. While this stuff is actually really quite pigmented for a highlighter, I need a little more coverage for my dark circles. So I usually layer this on top of whatever concealer I'm using, and it creates a wonderful soft-focus effect that I love. I'm so glad I returned this for the proper shade, because the difference is night and day, and I can finally see why the blogosphere has been raving about this one for so long!

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara

I naturally have pretty long lashes (thanks Mom!), so I'm pretty lucky in that I can really get away with using any mascara. Because of that, I usually pick up any old mascara from the drugstore instead of dishing out the big bucks for it at a higher end place. I bought the Miss Manga Mascara on a whim at the drugstore, after seeing it mentioned on a few different blogs. I was expecting to like it, but didn't have super high expectations for it. Well, I can safely say my expectations were exceeded, and then some! This stuff is dreamy, and the combination of the formula and the funky looking brush helps create some gorgeous long lashes without any clumps to speak of. This has been my daily go-to since purchasing, I'm absolutely loving it!

  1. Isn't that brow pencil just the best thing ever?! I love that I can finally get a cool toned brown for dark hair.

    1. Oh my gosh, as dramatic as it sounds I truly don't know what I did before it!! It really is amazing. Thank you so much for stopping by and reading!
