Mystic Tan Giveaway

I am so excited to announce that I will be having my first ever giveaway today on the blog! Thanks to Allison from Mystic Tan, I am giving away a gift card for one Mystic Tan spray tan that can be used at a tanning salon near you (that offers Mystic Tan, of course). The contest is open until 11:59 EST on Thursday June 12th, and there are tons of ways to enter down below (if you want to skip my whole spiel, just scroll down)!

But first, I'm excited to share my own experience with Mystic Tan, after Allison graciously gave me a free tan* of my own so I could share the results with you guys! Now, while I was given this spray tan through PR, I can promise that the thoughts and opinions expressed are completely 100% my own.
So anyways, on to my own experience. I have never spray tanned before, and honestly when I think about spray tanning, I immediately think it'll turn out like Ross' experience on Friends. You know the one I'm talking about...

However, I am thrilled to say that the experience was nothing but simple and pleasant! Outside the booth, there were instructions and photos explaining what to do (which you better believe I had down pat by the time I actually went in), and if that weren't easy enough, the booth literally talks you through it step by step. The salon provides you with a towel, shower cap, and optional eye pieces or nose plugs (depending on the salon), and I was lucky enough to have a staff member take me through the process and answer any questions I had.

There are several different options for the level of spray tan you can receive, and since I am pasty white and wanted just a "natural glow" I went with Light, which is obviously the lightest choice. The color develops over the course of 24 hours, and I'm happy to announce that I have a nice bronze-y glow that's truly subtle and natural looking. Just for a little comparison's sake, here are the before and after pictures of my hand (I apologize for not using pictures of my face, but I'm going through the dreaded "purging" stage of my Clarisonic so I'm feeling a bit self-conscious at the moment).

Before Mystic Tan                                                           12 hrs After Mystic Tan

The second photo was taken only 12 hours after getting the spray tan done, with another 12 hours left to fully develop. You can see there's not a ton of color, but certainly there is a subtle difference that makes it look like I had gotten a bit of sun during the day! The spray contains DHA, an ingredient found in most self-tanners. DHA is primarily derived from plant sources such as sugar cane or beet root, and helps to slightly darken and tan the skin. The benefit of the spray tan, and specifically Mystic Tan, is that the spray moves up and down your body helping to create an even tan, something that can be hard to do with self-tanning lotions or creams.

If you're still wondering about how Mystic Tan works, here's a little instructional video (which I may or may not have watched before going, because I'm a weirdo and needed to know every detail):

Anyways, I had a really great experience with Mystic Tan, which makes me especially excited to share this giveaway with all of you! There are several ways to enter below, and if anyone has any questions about the giveaway or Mystic Tan as a whole please don't hesitate to reach out to me through my Contact Me page, or tweet me and I'll get back to you!
Good luck!!
* This was sent to me by PR for the purpose of review, however the views and opinions expressed are 100% unbiased and my own.
